I am reading ‘Sir Walter Scott’, and I came upon this passage.
It reminds me of Robin of Hood, or the elves in ‘Lord of the Rings’
either way the scene is Fantastic.

‘ “Have then thy wish!”– He whistled shrill,
And he was answered from the hill;
Wild as the scream of the curlew,
From crag to crag the signal flew.
Instant, through copse and heath,arose
Bonnets and spears and bending bows;
On right, on left, above, below,
Sprung up at once the lurking foe.” ‘

Its amazing the amount of things people are afraid of, the dark, sharp objects, heights, death, ghosts, public speaking, and small children come into the top 7 things my friends are afraid of. (I do have a couple friends who beg to trade with me when I am taking care of second graders and they are taking care of kindergarteners saying that “they scare me”

apparently the top ten fears of most people are

1. Fear of flying – I won’t make fun of someone for this, and I try to understand, but simply I love it, the only time I have ever been in a plane was a small one that only fit 4 people, it was amazing, that is the only way I can describe that feeling of ecstasy :D

2. Public speaking- This I can understand, (mostly because it is something I dislike doing), really though if you just practice, and DO IT, eventually, if you do it enough, you won’t have people looking at you with sympathy, or throwing tomatoes at you. yeah, yeah I know, I’m certainly one to give advice

3.Fear of heights – Many people say fear of flying and fear of heights are the same thing, really they’re  not, a person can be afraid to fly, but perfectly fine with standing at the edge of a tall cliff. Heights are a fear of mine, but I find that just the thrill the fear puts in me, is exhilarating, I love it

4.The Dark – who wouldn’t be just a little bit nervous? it’s the absence of light, when its dark somewhere in the back of your head you just have to wonder…… are there things you can’t see in the light that are there in the dark, for all you know the cookie monster…… sorry they changed it (so sad) the veggie monster might come and eat you!

5. Intimacy – next!

6.Death – does it strike anyone else as weird that this is so far down the list? nope! This is one thing, I am happy to say, I have no fear of, I am Christian, I believe I will go with Jesus when I die. I am ready.     I understand the fear for others though.

7. Failure - A perfectly logical fear (sort of) but whats the use of living if your too scared of failing to try doing something? Learn from your failures and try again, or do something different, it doesn’t matter if you fail, you tried something you had never done before and you learned something,

8. Rejection – Well Duh! everyone is afraid of rejection. I look at it this way, Writers are afraid that people, publishers, friends will not like their story. a while back I read a book on writing and it had a list of ways to deal with rejection, and on that list it had this

If you get thoroughly tired of publishers rejecting you, put a sign above your desk that reads “Some publishers wouldn’t know a good book if it bit them in the behind” if symptoms persist add an illustration.

on reading this I found it very amusing, decided to use this method with anything that was really annoying me, (does not always work, but it does relieve some stress)

9. Spiders - Creepy, crawly, tiny, annoying beasts!!!!!!!! oh, I can’t believe I said that. I don’t always like spiders but I do find them much better companions that cockroaches and ants, I believe cockroaches should be on this list in place of spiders, spiders at least have a small use in taking away the annoying fly’s that like to buzz in my ear. plus cockroaches look much more disgusting, and are larger, if I see a spider as big as a cockroach in my house of course I’m gonna squash it.

10. Commitment - I think of it as a fear of being trapped in something you can’t get out of gracefully, like trying to climb a twelve-foot wire fence in a traditional Victoria wedding dress

Some more of my characters, some will be main characters some wont, it all depends on what they decide. In the mean time, enjoy! I will try to put up some more of my male characters.
Dream Avatar
Abell Porthos – Miako’s older sister, she attempts to keep him in check, but having an extremely large merchant company keeps her pretty busy, Shasta grew up with Abell and is very close to her, so bell’s services come in very handy.
Dream AvatarCorra Amaryllis van-Victor – Friend of Shasta’s, also a young officer, Shasta’s 2nd in command, has an extremely interesting background, and has a fun personality that goes straight serious on command, and little headstrong, a sweet person. about 17
Dream AvatarJocelyn van-Victor – Corra’s younger sister, 14 years old, extremely quiet with sparks of genius in the oddest situations. very good at blending in, always carrying a book and pencil around and writing
Dream AvatarLady Babette M’nutt – daughter of Shasta’s Father’s best friend, has a big personality and isn’t afraid to push people into “their duty” Loyalty and Honor are very important to her, Hates her name, 21 years old, not really a main character but she’s cool.
Dream AvatarKaratina Shasta – Shasta’s aunt who is 4 years older, has a troublesome streak, along with heaps of common sense, which she like to ignore, she is thought very odd by many people the reason is unknown.
_There Joanna, you wanted your character, right!_

Behold!my characters, I thought that since I am always talking about them you might want to know what they look like.

Dream AvatarThis is Ackailia Shasta Rethail or just Shasta, she is an extremely young Latedorian officer, and my main character

Dream AvatarShasta’s cousin Miako, a bit of a freelancer, annoying but without him Shasta’s life would be extremely boring and predictable, I think he has separation problems because he likes to follow Shasta when she travels. His real name is Vatar but being how he is he can’t use it in about 11 country’s, without being thrown in prison. In his words he dabbles in Salvage & Reclamation, in my words he’s a pirate.
Dream AvatarThis is Willow she is Shasta’s mostly constant companion, though she disappears every once in a while. Her specialty is getting Miako out of jams and putting other people into them. every so often she gets a bounty hunter job and drags Shasta along with her.
Dream AvatarThis is Prince Johann, He is about 13 years old and doesn’t always know when to be quiet. he is extremely loyal to both his country and his friends. He is also handles a pistol amazingly.
these are the characters with whom I am always arguing, tell me what you think!- Sarah

My characters are now stealing my story and changing the entire plot.

My Captain decided he wanted to be female, and wanted nothing to do with her post as an officer of the royal army, the random kid I threw in became a prince and royal air to two thrones, my annoying friend became an awesome pirate ninja, my girl decided she was marrying the character I hated, & has 7 children, and the secondary character I had as a slave-trader became a Lord who holds a lot of power with the certain shady characters.

How in the world did this happen! they threw out my plot and came up with an extremely political one which works so much better. My main grievance is that they are so much smarter and know how to push my buttons, its like arguing with Joanna, &  fremlog combined with Chrs, Frem never argues unless he knows he right and thus always wins (he is also a  bit more experienced), Chrs is logical and knows when she’s right, she can also reason with people a bit more, and Joanna…….. just knows the right buttons to push. I can’t believe I actually made up these characters from my siblings, not all of them, just my favorite characters. I must really admire my siblings, granted I only put in the characteristics I wish I had.

I only wish they weren’t so good at having their way – Sarah

Hello! I am writing a story and having a little trouble with it. One of my main characters, (a really awesome knight dude) is sadly still nameless I need a good name or two, I have already had several suggestions; Lor, Rhodann, Erendell, Arian, as you can see half of them are elvish, any suggestions? I have also been told I should change the gender of the character because I identified with him better than the female character I picked out, what do you think? Also, should I have elves?

Hopefully the story does not die, after spending three or four months playing with family trees, the position of the country’s, and what they will look like,           I think that my inclination to write and imagine story’s might die and I would be forced to live in the real world. Who wants to do that?

The world is not bad. in fact it is one of the most beautiful things in existence. I however am quite at annoyed at my mind, at least once a day, I suddenly have irresistible urge to go where no one else is and think, most of the time I make up story’s and play them over and over in my head, occasionally I might even act them out. But I can not control when I want to be alone usually its when I am bored, but it happens even when I am with friends which dampens my mood, and makes things less enjoyable. Watson came to the conclusion that they have not yet named the problem, she seems to think with much research, and tests they might come up with something, I hope when they do they do not name it after me, not sure I want to be known for having a disease so obscure every body has it.

If on the other hand if an extremely small percentage of people were diagnosed with it, it might just maybe be semi O.K.-Sarah

I find I am having a laziness faze, nothing is getting done, and my piano teacher wants to kill me

As every one in the south knows, we have just had the snowstorm of the decade. It was only six inches but with the population of Georgia and the amount of snowplows we have here, it was pretty much a catastrophe. Although skating, and sledding on the roads was fun, one kinda get tired of it after three days, when this happens the funnest thing to do (if you have ski’s of course) is to attach a  rope to the back of the car, get your ski’s on, hold onto the rope, and enjoy the ride as the car goes as fast as the driver wants it to. I am not speaking from experience of course, but from watching as the neighbors down the street do it, letting out a blood curdling scream to the driver as they realize that there is a Hugh hill they are about to go over, that they had forgotten about. Each time the car went by there was a different unsuspecting victim rider, and each time the car came back up the hill there was the driver on the back, laughing. after a while people finally wised up to this, and the sport ended.

Every one here thinks that as soon as it snows they are going to run out of everything. Thankfully they were smart enough not to drive on the roads one could barely stand on, but instead formed a procession to go to  the Kroger at the top of our street. Most people I noticed went about twice a day. Annoyingly, though not with out good reason my brother and I were made to shovel the driveway, so while ours was nice and clear, at every other house you could ice skate.

It is now almost completely melted and I am suddenly having a longing for more, I think this may be fixed with brain surgery. -Sarah

I have recently gotten an obsession with the Elvish language and most of Tolkien’s other languages, but mostly Elvish. My friends Watson, Liz, and I have have the language almost completely memorized. But whenever I get obsessed with some thing, (usually a culture or a language), the next thing I get obsessed with is their architecture which is usually quite amazing. but it is as hard to find Elvish architecture that you can get a good look at, as it is to find a floor plan for Buckingham palace (and yes I have tried to find that). If you can find any thing please comment.

my friend and I are going to a costume party quite soon, and I am very happy, we are dressing up as elves and we actually have half way good costumes, and fake ears that actually look kind of realistic. Later - Sarah

I have come upon yet another problem, I could write a very good book if I wanted to (I think), I have completely unused characters, plot, and no stereo types, well maybe a few reused things, but they are not all from the same source. I might a small thing from about 54 books and put them all in one, But that’s part of writing right? my problem is I have ideas for any thing some one asks me but I don’t want to write some thing original. I am finding I enjoy righting book reports and such, which is rather annoying because I don’t want to like writing book reports. Your not supposed to like it. I suppose my main problem is, I don’t want to like writing, and I do. (yes Joanna you were right, be quiet). – Sarah
